Concludo osservando che, per quanto consentito ad una
valutazione a distanza, la moneta di figura presenta
caratteristiche fisiche, generali e di stile non
difformi da quelle delle monete d'epoca reperite nel
web. Il valore venale della moneta, se autentica,
potrebbe, a mio avviso, stimarsi in meno di 20€.

Dalla tabella si evince che le
caratteristiche fisiche dell'asse di figura (13,9g,
28,30mm) si collocano ai limiti inferiori nei
margini di variazione delle monete d'epoca dello
stesso tipo. Per controllare basta mettere sul
bilancino una moneta da 1 euro sovrapposta ad una da
2 euro e verificare che il risultato sia 14,2g.
(2) La moneta fu battuta dal
figlio minore di Pompeo Magno, Sesto Pompeo Magno
Pio, che dal padre prese il soprannome e le
convinzioni repubblicane. Quando, nel 42 a.C., gli
alleati del secondo triumvirato, Ottaviano e
Antonio, sconfissero l'esercito di Cassio e Bruto a
Filippi, Sesto Pompeo, che nel 43 a.C. conquistò la
Sicilia, divenne l'unico nemico dei triumviri. Nel
39 a.C. si riappacificarono con lui a Puteoli,
conferendogli l'autorità proconsolare in Sicilia,
Sardegna, Corsica e Peloponneso. Tuttavia, dopo la
vittoria di Marco Agrippa nella battaglia navale di
Naulochos, la flotta di Sesto fu completamente
spazzata via ed egli fu ucciso mentre era in fuga a
Mileto. Le monete battute da Sesto Pompeo spesso
commemorano il suo famoso padre o, come in questo
caso, riportano motivi marinari, perché Sesto basava
il suo potere quasi esclusivamente su una forte
