La moneta dei Bruzi

Caro Prof. De Florio,
ho recentemente acquistato la moneta che Le sottopongo: Peso: circa 15 g,  Diametro: circa 28 mm, asse di conio ore 6. Di colore marrone, non ferromagnetica, credo bronzo. Sul dritto č rappresentato un uomo barbuto con elmo, non si legge alcuna iscrizione. Sul rovescio un soldato con lancia e scudo, qualcosa davanti alle gambe (tunica?), un volatile in basso a destra e la scritta PETTI?N o PETTION. Dovrebbe quindi trattarsi di una moneta del Brutium. E' a Suo parere autentica? Che tipo di moneta č? (nella sommaria descrizione del venditore era definita "sextans"). Dove e quando č stata coniata?

Egregio Lettore,
affronto sempre con disagio la monetazione magno-greca che, per sua natura, richiederebbe ricerche bibliografiche che al presente non posso permettermi per ragioni di tempo, oltre a conoscenze in materia storica di cui non sono in pieno possesso. Pertanto le notizie che sono in grado di offrirle sono frammentarie, per lo pił limitate a quanto reperibile nel web. Fatte queste doverose premesse, di seguito fornisco gli elementi che ho potuto raccogliere:

Sestante ridotto di bronzo, prodotto nell'ultimo quarto del 3° secolo a. C.1 al tempo dell'alleanza della lega dei Bruzi con Annibale.
D. Testa di Ares a sinistra con elmo corinzio decorato con un grifone, sotto fulmine.
R. BRETTIWN.2 Hera Hoplosmia3 armata di scudo ed asta avanza a destra; a destra in basso civetta.

(2) BRETTIWN. (moneta) dei Bruzzii. I  Bruzzii o Bruzi (in greco ; in latino, Bruttii,  Brutii,  Britti o Bruttates) erano una popolazione italica che durante il 4° secolo a. C. si stabilģ nelle zone interne dell'attuale Calabria (le zone costiere continuarono ad essere occupate dalle cittą greche) alle quali diede il nome di Bruzio. Dopo lotte con Alessandro d'Epiro e poi con Agatocle di Siracusa riuscirono ad ottenere l'indipendenza. Formarono una confederazione di varie cittą (Consentia, Aufugum, Bergae, Besidiae, Ocriculum e altre minori) che nel 3° secolo raggiunse grande potenza. In urto con i Romani al tempo della guerra di Pirro, furono battuti, ma la loro fine fu segnata dalla sconfitta di Annibale cui si erano alleati; nel loro territorio vennero dedotte colonie romane (Tarpea, Crotone, Ipponio) [notizie tratte dal Diz.
