di seguito riporto gli elementi significativi raccolti sulla moneta di figura:

Sesterzio1, zecca di Roma, 161-164, RIC III 1668 (pag. 347), Cohen III 200 (pag. 153), BMC IV 945 (pag. 535).

Descrizione sommaria:
D. FAVSTINA - AVGVSTA2. Faustina Minore, busto diademato a destra.
R. SALVTI AVGVSTAE3 . S C in esergo. La Salute, seduta a sinistra, nutre da una patera un serpente attorcigliato ad un altare.

A titolo di confronto e per le indicazioni di valore ho ricercato nel web monete di identica tipologia e leggenda che di seguito segnalo per opportuna informazione:

Al di là del peso un po' scarso, desta perplessità il disegno appena abbozzato e approssimativo della moneta. Se si considera che se ne conoscono almeno altri due esemplari identici (v. lamoneta_a e lamoneta_b), se ne deduce che la moneta non è autentica.

(1) Sesterzio (oricalco). Il sesterzio di Marco Aurelio pesava 25,16g. (media calcolata su 558 esemplari, fornita da BMC), con un'ampia fascia di oscillazione attorno a questo valore. Raccolgo in tabella le caratteristiche fisiche dei sesterzi della tipologia di figura tratte dai link di cui sopra:

Dalla tabella si evince che il peso del sesterzio di figura comunicato dal lettore (17,18g) è inferiore alla media del periodo.
(2) Alla morte di Adriano nel 138 Antonino, divenuto Augusto, decise di dare la figlia Faustina Minore in sposa a Marco Aurelio. Nel 146, alla nascita del primo figlio, Faustina Minore fu insignita dal padre del titolo di Augusta mentre il marito Marco Aurelio era ancora Cesare. Riferisce il Diz. Enc. Italiano che Faustina Minore era lodata per il suo premuroso amore verso i numerosi figli (ne ebbe almeno 13, un elenco dei quali è presente nel sito, https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faustina_minore) e verso il marito che accompagnò anche in guerra. Proprio per questo, prima tra le mogli di imperatori, ebbe il titolo di “mater castrorum”. Morì ad Halala (successivamente ribattezzata in suo onore Faustinopoli) in Cappadocia dove Marco Aurelio si trovava per reprimere la rivolta di Avidio Cassio. Alla morte, Faustina fu divinizzata e infine sepolta nel mausoleo di Adriano; in suo onore furono istituite sacerdotesse e furono create le nuove “puellae Faustinianae” che rinnovavano l’istituzione benefica creata dalla madre Faustina Maggiore. Le fonti antiche, in contrasto con i “Ricordi” di Marco Aurelio, accusano Faustina di dissolutezza ma, con tutto il rispetto per le fonti, mi chiedo dove mai una madre di tredici figli avrebbe potuto trovare il tempo e la voglia per dedicarsi ai piaceri extraconiugali. Un ritratto di Faustina Minore è presente a Roma nei Musei Capitolini (v. link). Nelle monete viene di solito ritratta con lo chignon dietro la testa, a differenza della mamma che portava lo chignon sopra la testa.
(3) SALVTI AVGVSTAE (Alla Salute dell'Augusta). La dedica alla salute di Faustina nel rovescio della moneta e l'immagine della dea Salus personificata indicano l'auspicio di recupero dalla malattia che aveva colpito la sovrana.
