osservando che la moneta non si discosta, nello stile
e nelle caratteristiche fisiche, dai campioni
autentici del periodo. Nel presente stato di
conservazione il suo valore venale non dovrebbe
superare i 30,00€.

Si evince dalla tabella che
le caratteristiche fisiche del denario in esame
(2,9g, 19mm, 6h) non si discostano nella sostanza da
quelle delle monete autentiche del periodo.
(2) La moneta è esattamente datata
perché Caracalla fu investito per la 15.ma volta
dei poteri di tribuno (TRP XV) nel 212 d. C.
(3) ANTONINVS PIVS AVGustus BRITannicus.
Caracalla si fregiò del titolo di BRITannicus nel

(4) Pontifex Maximus TRibunicia
Potestate XV COnSul III Pater Patriae. La Salus è
riconoscibile dall'atto di nutrire il serpente che
si erge dall'altare. La Salus sul rovescio della
moneta allude alla salvezza di Caracalla, messa in
pericolo, nella versione ufficiale, dalle trame di
Geta (BMC pag. cxcix). |
