Gordiano III, busto radiato, paludato e corazzato a
destra visto da dietro.
R. VIRTVTI AVGVSTI3. Ercole, nudo, stante a destra, mano
destra su un fianco e mano sinistra su una clava
appoggiata su una roccia, pelle di leone accanto
alla clava.

Strahlenkrone n. r. Rs.: VIRTVTI AVGVSTI, Hercules
stützt sich auf Keule, über der das Löwenfell
hängt u. die auf einem Felsen steht (sog. Herakles
Farnese). RIC 95; C. 404. Interessante
Statuendarstellung! Tönung, stEine Statue des sich
ausruhenden Hercules, der hinter seinem Rücken die
goldenen Äpfel der Hesperiden hält, wurde 1546 in
den Caracalla-Thermen in Rom gefunden. Papst Paul
III. ließ die Statue dann im Palazzo Farnese
aufstellen. Heute befindet sie sich im
Nationalmuseum von Neapel. Bei ihr handelt es sich
um eine Kopie einer knapp drei Meter großen Statue
des berühmten griechischen Bildhauers Lysipp, die
dieser um 320 v. Chr. geschaffen haben soll.

l'undicesima (inizi del 243). Il valore dell'Augusto è
illustrato attraverso la rappresentazione della figura
mitologica di Ercole, al servizio e alla difesa
